Oh, please. Jane Brunner now wants to implement policing policies like New York? I have been listening to her for the last 12 years and I can assure the readers that she has never shown ANY interest in what New York did and appears completely ignorant of their strategies. And, by the way, in the time Ms. Brunner has been in office, New York has reduced it's crime rate by 80%. That's NOT a typo, that's a reduction of 80%. Every crime stat, from murder to rape to robbery, New York has a small fraction of what us Oaklanders experience (adjusted for population). Please, please District 1 voters: Brunner is trying to pull the wool over your eyes! Elect Patrick if you really want things to change.

Last I checked, non-profits can't engage in political activity. The writer of this article is missing a good story here...Uhuru is blatantly breaking the law and slandering/libeling a citizen and using non-profit donations to do it.
From the article: "A group called the International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement has campaigned hard against McCullough"
Google the Uhuru blog and site to see for yourself the ironic racisim that this so-called progressive group pushes. They purport: If you are black, you're an African; if you're white, you're a North American. Last I checked, we are US citizens. One people. This group is full of hate, divisiveness and lies. Don't be fooled. Their dialogue and behavior enables and excuses unacceptable behavior by poor, inner city black kids. The irony is too thick..if they took the time to speak with Pat, they'd realize that McCullough for Supervisor is exactly what Oakland needs.

i'm sorry but it didn't take me or the rest of the district to go door to door canvassing in order to find out that crime is bad in north oakland.
jane - your tough stance on crime is too late.
As for uhuru - i find it funny that they don't go after brunner now that she's basically adopting pat's policies. anyways, they'll be an asterik by the time this election is done with.....
one last thing - he shot a thug who was about to kill him. with the brief thought of leaving his son fatherless and his wife a widow - he did what what was best for his family. period.

We need a city council who are serious about crime reduction and luring more jobs to this city with so much potential.
We need to get rid of the drug dealing lifestyle and stop excusing it.
We need a proven activist with leadership, not a pandering 12-year incumbent who hasn't done a lot of anything to help the city, and who only does her job PART-TIME.
We need to replace Chief Tucker with someone competent, not a friend of a friend of Jerry Brown, who needed the middle friend's Sherriff's group endorsement for his AG run.
We need to chop the insane $1 Trillion Pentagon budget by 90% to fun domestic needs and stop continued war-mongering and "all free trade all the time" treason by all three Presidential candidates: Hillary, McCain and Obama.
Vote for Pat McCullough, Sean Sullivan, and vote for CHANGE. We deserve nothing less for our future.

There is a good 15 minute interview with Patrick on YouTube (just search his name). It's worth watching if you have no idea of what kind of guy he is. I think you may be surprised by what you see.
The one notorious incident requires an understanding of a few salient facts: 1. There was drug dealing in front of his house on a daily basis. 2. He consistently called the cops on it. 3. 15 known thugs/drug dealers came ONTO HIS PROPERTY and belligerently told him to STOP SNITCHING and threatening to kill him and implying they had weapons to do it on the spot. He had his wife and child in the house.
We now live in a city with an awful lot of neighborhoods where criminals feel very comfortable doing what they're doing.* It is a mess, and Patrick did the right thing, from repeatedly calling the cops to standing his ground-defending his family and property from those who respect neither life or property.
*"The Trouble I See" may not, indeed, live in one of those kinds of neighborhoods, but about 2/3 of the population of Oakland does. Those are the people who have to make decisions daily like Patrick has. Most people do not do what Patrick did: they don't snitch, they divert their eyes to all the open criminality around them. So, for the rest of us, I find it reprehensible to look down on the actions of one brave soul.

North Oaklanders like Jane Brunner. They like warm and fuzzy. They like looking down on black people as their "pets" and think their pet's children need mentors. It keeps the class system and the economics in Oakland going. Look what Jane said recently about the people on the "charming street of Whitney" probably being frightened and shocked at the recent shooting on their block? Does she think people on streets that aren't charming don't get frightened and shocked? Does she think we just get enured to the trauma of gunshots? She's never come down to MLK or Market St. to comfort the residents there. No, the fiction is this happens in some places that aren't homes and neigbhorhoods. In fact Jane has always considered Rockridge as being District one. People have lived for almost 90 years on in the Temescal track which covered MLK and Market St. area as well and STILL, Jane never refers to this area as North Oakland. It's all about class. Make usre its stays in one area where home prices are now going down but doesn't move up. And let people run wild in this area terorizing everyone else because they are "victims". That's what Jane thinks and it's played well amongst north Oakland's warm, fuzzy and chauvinistic liberals, particularly those living above Telegraph.

Councilmember Jane Brunner - in office for many years has just recently recognized the crime problem - for political purposes. She is useless, worthless and a threat to the public health and safety of our city. She has produced nothing of value for the tax dollars that have been paid to her over the years. I urge her to refund this money back to the taxpayers of Oakland with interest to cover her salary, perks, pension payments, health care and paid time off.
The International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement is a domestic terrorist organization that condones murder, disarming law abiding citizens, and supports every type of immoral, unethical, pathelogical and dysfunctional type of behavior. This organization supports Jane Brunner. Jane Brunner supports this terrorist organization. That alone is reason enough to vote her out of office.
If you value your life, health & safety, vote for Pat McCullough!

It's really very simple. If you want to get shot in the head support Jane Brunner and the UHURU movement.
If you want to live in a nice, peaceful neighborhood vote for Patrick McCullogh and Charlie PIne.
Shouldn't someone in our dysfunctional city government make sure UHURU loses its tax-deferred status? Maybe Pat will help us with that after he's elected. Sure hope so.
