Great! Another frivolous lawsuit that John Russo and his crew of scaredy cat lawyers can bend over for, and let the tax paying citizens of Oakland take it in the a** again! Let me see if I understand Haddad's very sound legal theory: King had a gun, all he wanted to do was get away from the officer so he could keep his gun and King fought violently toward that end; therefore, King was not a threat to the officer and should not have been shot. I suppose Haddad would also suggest that King did not present a threat to society, even though he had a loaded gun in his waistband. I'm no genius, but I suspect King was up to no good and would have robbed or shot someone with that gun. Then we would be back at the drawing board blaming the police for not doing their jobs and letting crime run rampant. Notably missing from the article is whether King had ever been arrested in the past, for what and if he is a convicted felon. I, for one, would like to know. Sgt. Gonzales should be suing the King family for producing a criminal that was carrying a gun, fighting with the police and endangering everyone's life.
