Should diocese leaders have automatically reported accused priests to police before required to by law in 1997?

It's always been hypocritical to "talk" against it, yet conspire to allow it around you. Any other  molesters  would have been in prison !!  The church  has  NO excuse.

Of course. The reason they did not was simply that the Catholic church is one of the biggest, oldest, and richest businesses in the world, and covering up was thought to be better for business.

and...anything to do with religion is usually off limits to criticism for fear of being branded discriminatory and not allowing people their right to religious freedom no matter how kooky the subject matter is.
