Yes, no, no, and and yes. I'm GLAD theyre out there !!! My problem with the police is that there aren't ENOUGH out there on patrol. How's this one ? O Are you tired of gang shootings ? O Are you aware that last week there were at least four strong arm robberies and several purse snatchings ? O Do you think graffitti is an eyesore ? If I am pulled over, or approached by the police I have no problem because I never break the law. It seems to me that you must have an issue with the police that goes deeper than you are willing to tell us about.

'It seems to me that you must have an issue ' How deeply perceptive of you. I posted a poll - that should have been a clue. I too, have never broke the law. Neither have a myriad of other tax-paying citizens in this area. Nevertheless, I have been 1. stopped by no less then 3 HPD cars, walking down Mission Blvd, dressed like the ordinary middle-aged mom that I am - with a girlfriend. Apparently two women walking on a public street at 10 pm warrants 3 cruisers. Upon examining our drivers license, they found it highly suspicious that we both had the same first name. When I pulled out a badge of my own, they departed to parts unknown, possibly to find other law abiding citizens to intimidate & verbally harrass - for no good reason. Another example? 2. An excellent employee, a young family man that had just purchased a home elsewhere and was painting & preping his older house in the Cherryland District late into the night. Again, multiple cars surrounded him & ultimately grilled him as to HOW a young hispanic male such as himself could afford the car he was driving. If I could put down another 10 stories like that, I am sure others in the community could as well. And let's be perfectly clear, Mel: I do NOT mean stories that are REMOTELY borderline. I mean stories involving NO, ZERO, ZIP, ZED, ZILCH criminality or wrong doing on the part of the citizenry involved whatsoever. You want more police watching neighborhoods with shootings? Perhaps if they weren't needlessly wasting time on non-criminal matters, they could concentrate the manpower where it is needed. We now have a downtown that is accessible, clean & eager to do business. Nevertheless, just like the previous 40 years, the city's left hand does not know or presumably care what the right hand is doing. There is at least one vacant, attractive establishment on B St. that would make a lovely restaurant. It's been sitting vacant, like the old bank, for a few years. Townhouses surround City Hall. The City brought people & businesses in - then the rents are raised & some businesses vacate. Others have their business permits turned down for the most embarrassing smalltown & unbusinesslike reasons: 'You'll have a restaurant with (gasp) a BAR?? ALCOHOL? No can do-there's a bar a block & a half away.' Still others do everything right & the police show up in force - on OVERTIME - at the very places that should be encouraged to keep up the good work! EXAMPLE: Are YOU aware that at least TWO bars - one WITH it's own security employed by the owner - had 20 police, PLUS ABC, PLUS SWAT go in between 1 & 2 a.m. and roust customers 2 weekends ago? Net result: 1 homeless & 1 retired gentleman with no ID. Not felons. Not parole offenders. But hey, they had to grab someone- And no, NEITHER was the one that's been in the news lately. Where can one get breakfast in downtown Hayward? How about a late night eatery that one doesn't have to drive through? Music, other than during the day? SFPD appreciates the security & bouncers out watching their businesses - that frees them to be elsewhere. Not Hayward. Perhaps that has always been the goal: to have everyplace close early & everyone in jail or at home. How very, very cosmopolitan.

My friend died yesterday at santa rita most likely due to the fact that necessary medication was not dispensed. They say he died of natural causes at 38. Who dies of natural causes at 38? No one!  Just another coverup from Alameda Countys finest. The real truth will never be known because the politics of the department. They would never admit fault. I hope all the deputies involved in this tragedy rot in HELL.
