of church and state.  Occasionally I read what the Right has to say in this country and on rare occasions such as this one actually agree with them. 

Cliff Kincaid has an editorial on Right News decrying the lack of separation of Church and State being ommitted in the press in his editorial entitled "Catholic Bishops Help Pass Pelosicare".

A woman's right to choose has been horsetraded by Congresswoman Pelosi in a deal struck with the Catholic Conference of Bishops who in return for having the right of women in federal funded healthcare programs struck down EVEN if they want to pay for private abortion insurance out of their OWN POCKETS, are now urging their Catholic supporters to support Obama's healthcare reform bill and the right of immigrants to be covered.

The most interesting thing is that only 15% of Catholics themselves are opposed to abortion.  So how has it come to pass that the Catholic Conference of Bishops, has come to speak for all Catholics?  Eh Ms. Catholic House Speaker?

This question is answered in another article on Religious Dispatches which revealed it was no less than the Democrats themselves that chose anti-abortion candidates in conservative districts who were more conservative than the consituents in their own districts to they then bankrolled to run for Congress.  And these Blue Dogs (as they have come to be called) are the ones who refused to support healthcare reform until a woman's right to choose was stripped out of the bill with Obama's blessing.

Furthermore, in return for this the Catholic Bishops Conference supports rights of illegal immigrants to receive healthcare support under public option.

Well, the whole thing will probably die anyway, but I'm not for trading a right that women struggled for for decades in this country in order to provide even more rights for recent immigrants to our country who have never fought nor participated in the battle for women's rights nor for universal healthcare in this country.  No sirree.  American women should not come second place or be stripped of their political rights in order that noncitizens receive healthare funding in this country.  I'm not for supporting the rights of those who don't even support abortion to get ahead of us in line for medical care nor for greater political rights.

Shame on Pelosi for making this deal.  And shame on Representatives Waxman and George Miller as well.   This is not horsetrading, this is plain ole stinking horse manure that never had to be because its Pelosi who helped raised the monies and appointed Rahm Emanuel to become the chair of the DSCCC to select these anti-abortion Blue Dogs to run for office in the first place who don't support a woman's right to choose.
