Farewell and the best wishes to Dennis Richmond. The man has been an icon to me for at least 30 years. His style and quality of bringing us the news has been first rate for many years. I will miss the sound of Dennis's voice at KTVU. He has done a great job for all his viewers. God Bless you Dennis.

I've watched Dennis Richmond as long as I can remember. But then, I also remember when Walt Harris -- this was during the days he also did Roller Derby color -- did the news on KTVU, which was during the 60s, so I go back a long way. Growing up in the Bay Area, I watched KTVU, like some other stations, find strong anchors, from Van Amberg and Jerry Jensen at KGO to Dave McEllahanton and Wendy Tokuda at KPIX. My father insisted on KPIX in the early evening but it was KTVU, and later Richmond, that became household staple at the end of the day. Why? Because Richmond and KTVU nailed down how news should be delivered on TV, no gimmicks, no flash and no opinions after each story. In a very large sense, and journalist know this is a very high compliment, Richmond was the Walter Cronkite of Bay Area news. Like Uncle Walter at CBS Evening News, if Richmond said you knew it was accurate. Today, TV news is entertainment and misleading teases nowadays. But at least we were lucky enough to have Dennis Richmond wade through the muck. He will be sorely missed for all those reasons.
