After reading about the horrendous shooting of four officers in Oakland, and watching the funeral, I started thinking about all these officers riding around on motorcycles.  They are highly exposed to shooters.  Riding the motorcycles is dangerous, especially when doing police work which includes chasing people.  Also, they are somewhat threatening with the helmet and glasses and the loudness of the engines.  I really don't see what advantage there is to having motorcycles cops, I only see disadvantages.    Even though being a motorcycle cop appears to be very appealing to some macho officers, this may the time to bring the program to an end.
