It's a bit hard to make changes in these areas when the employees in question vote, and many politicians receive financial support from the public service unions.

Let's not forgot the compensation that taxpayers give to elected officials. Ron Dellums gets well over $200,000 per year in base salary and benefits, including his chauffeur-driven luxury town car and its driver, his body guards, and the guy who wipes his hiney everytime he goes poo poo. Each Oakland City Council person's total annual compensation approaches $100,000 for a part time job in which their collective performance over the years has been a F-. The median household income in Oakland is less than $50,000, so why should our servants running this city (into the ground) get paid so much more than the people who are funding their extravagant lifestyles? Basically, our public officials are engaging in massive fraud against the taxpayers of Oakland. The solution? - the swift application of the death penalty en masse for all guilty parties. It works in China and it will work here.
