English is a second language for many Oaklanders. Please set a better example (i.e., "run" instead of "ran" in this case).

mscolnick, I don't know which article you were referencing, but Bayareanewsgroup probably doesn't have enough money to hire editors to check copy. Reporters file stories electronically and no one edits the articles for accuracy or grammar, it seems. Some of the funniest bloopers are in the headlines. Headline writing used to be a specialty, but today is rarely succinct and appropiate.
