"But Burris said he sees no reason why even a Taser was necessary to control the situation." The day that Oakland decided to put Mr. Burris in charge of evaluating police work was a fateful day indeed. Is Mr. Burris' judgment the definitive judgment in this matter? I'm just curious. But did Mr. Burris ever attend police academy training, even Oakland's Civilian Academies? Did he go for ride-a-longs with police officers? Has he ever faced crowds of young people of color like in Oakland's notorious sideshows who are high on drugs and where guns are often fired off for the sheer fun and joy of it all? Where there has been many murders? Mr. Burris, somehow your words ring false. There are tons of instances in Oakland where police have faced hostile crowds of young people high on drugs, crowds that contain young people packing guns people with guns who have shot these guns into the air, shot and murdered other young people because they were high on drugs, and shot at police officers too. Mr. Burris, were you there at the BART station that night? Did you gauge the crowd as a police officer in uniform? Or are you gauging the crowd as an individual out of uniform with a persisitent sharp axe which you use against the police unfairly in the opinion of some? What is your expertise that qualifies you to speak about what is appropriate police procedure in such matters?
