With all the new money and attention focused on the streets of East Oakland then why do the murders continue to skyrocket? This past weekend there were 6 homicides, and for anyone living in the East you know that there was no shortage of police from various agencies in high numbers patroling the main thouroughfares such as International, Foothill and MacArthur. Extra police must not be the solution, but yet it is the only one getting any play. When will we demand results instead of more overtime and a police state atmosphere? Pulling over motorist apparently has no affect on crime or murder!

- City Government
- Church Leaders
- Families
- Individuals
- The home
Lead by example, Each one Teach one, It takes a village... all come to mind and are prime examples of what is not happening in our society today. It used to be you had a parent watching you wherever you go. Society has no real leaders, therefore, they don't know which way to turn. Society forgot to look inside themselves. ACCOUNTABILITY, RESPONSIBILITY AND DUE DILIGENCE IN MAINTAINING A BALANCE OF NEIGHBOR WATCHING NEIGHBOR. There is the old addage, am I my brother's keeper? I say with an emphatic YES you are! More grassroots projects starting with individuals, immediate families, extended families, neighborhood watch organizations, city block associations, church organizations, voting districts, zip codes, etc. Grassroots needs to start somewhere and preferrably from the ground up. We've experienced the trickle down effect.. Stuff always rolls down hill. Gravity! People need to stop the blame game and take responsibility for their own actions and the actions of their relatives. Hypothetically speaking... You saw that girl with five kids leave them alone at night to fend for themselves while she's out partying. How did little Johnny get hurt last night? All the kids are under 9 years old. You saw that relative come into the house and ask you to get rid of that weapon he just used in some type of felony. You know so and so is drunk as a skunk and is about to go outside, drive and take revenge on the guy who disrespected him by looking at him too long, etc. CALL the POLICE! People are afraid to speak up because they are either, complicit, or have threats made against them. CALL the POLICE! The infamous saying... Talk is cheap doesn't bode well with right about now because this type of talk is very valuable indeed. There is a price for it! Someone is willing to pay to keep it silent and others may pay to make it known. The forum society is screaming mad and I know WE can't be IT! Oh yeah the Deity Dellums has a plan! Dellusions of Dellums! In any case, I hope we as a society don't suffer the ultimate price in the end for the lack of it. These are kids with guns, sure but they need some tough, hard knock, strict Discipline! Take away their guns and they are just snot nosed lazy kids with no direction and no purpose! We all need to find a way to BREAK the SILENT CODE OF FEAR!Joined: May 2008
