From my understanding at the scene this is one the city could not help! Oh but 90 something percent of the other 74 they could have, so dont let them off of the hook! The mayor had nerve to state public safety was his concern WHEN? 100 murders later, What we at about two and some change since he been in office now public safety is a concern of his my cheeks is tingling from the smoke?!

The problem in our city is we have babies having babies and these babies are raising themselves on video games, street corners, and violence.  It is time that parents took responsibility for their actions.  It is the actions of the parents that create these children.  It is time for the entire community to come together as one.  The actions of some destroy the lives of many. There will be a Stop the Violence (Save our Youth) Gospel Rally this Saturday on the corner of Church St. and Foothill Blvd. and 68th and Macarthur. The rally time is from 11:00AM and 4:00PM. Please come out and bring your children.  We will have several guest speakers, games, and activities for the children, live music, food, and we will be building a prayer chain around the entire block.  PLEASE COME OUT AND BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION!GOD BLESS EVERYONE!

You know jc, it would behoove you to take the time to read what people write. eggbert is not some "cracker" as you would say, but a pro-law enforcement person who is actually baffled by the outrageous violence in Oakland. And yes, a white woman living on Mead St. is indeed a rarity. You too are a rarity, because you have the ability to piss off everyone on this forum - pro-criminal, pro-cop, middle of the road, everyone! Please do us all a favor and understand what is being said before spouting off again. I know you will respond with a post containing more of your unfounded accusations, this time about me and my questionable parentage or lacking education. I have no intention of responding back.  By the way, do you take medication?  If so, have your doctor check the levels.  I do not believe it is working like it is supposed to.

Jif:  I know you are, as am I, pro law enforcement. eggbert is as well, only he seasons his pro enforcement with the spice of racism and hatred.  I  believe that 90% of the violent crime in Oakland is done by a group of probably 3-5 thousand young men, mostly black.  I think eggbert believes that the remaining 98% of the black population is somehow responsible for the violent crime.   And I am sure he will say it is because "the have a responsibility to do something."  Which is total BS. We ALL have a responsibility to do something.   I believe that when Oakland is staffed to the level of 1200  officers, violent crime will be down 50-60 % in this city. That simple.
