Lane Kiffin got fired cuz he wouldn't get behind Russel...Enter Tom Cable, the latest puppet to get his strings pulled. As a puppet, you can't go against the string puller--so I'm afraid we're stuck with JaMarshmellow until he gets hurt (maybe soon, with that O-line). Why do you think Jeff Garcia took off? He was told there wouldn't be a fair compitition for the starting spot, and JaKrispyCream will be #1, no matter what. After Garcia saw how bad Russell is (and how porous our O-line is), he said "SEEYA", and I don't blame him. ANY other team in the NFL (in our situation) would have kept Garcia, and he would obviously be starting now.
It was a roll of the dice for Al Davis, and he crapped out. Davis is no longer the visionary he once was, and it's gonna be a while before us Raider fans have anything to cheer about.
It's really the money that has ruined the sport...too much money, too many prima donnas, too many commericals, too many stupid rules (ooooo, bad boy! you touched the QB's knee!), and it kinda sucks now. I remember when football was a blue-collar sport, when the rules were few, and MEN played the sport. Games played by equal calibar teams were a battle of attrition, and the best team did win. Afterwards, there would be celebration with fans and players alike, as one, in the same bar/restruant/club.
No longer.
Player's no longer have to enter the workforce after their football years, and as a result, no longer care about the community in which they live, nor the people in said community. It doesn't matter what they say, what they do, how they act, none of it. Just look at Russell on the sideline, yucking it up in another lopsided loss as he laughes his way to the bank. Wish I could do the same.
As a blue-collar Raider fan, I feel like I'm getting priced out of the sport. And why would I want to pay big $$ for a bad product. Especially when the management shows so little love to a fan base as loyal as Oakland's. We keep getting punched in the face, and we keep coming back with our tails between our legs, hoping the next punch isn't as hard.
I'll try to stick around, but soon there will only be one Sunday game and one Monday night game (if we're lucky!), and all others will be pay-per-view. At that point, I'll be done.
