Even though the City of Oakland exists as an incorportated government that doesn't appear to be able to maintain domestic tranquility, decrease crime and manage critical investigations, in a timely or felicitous manner, I propose persuasion by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office to fully take over police operations to maintain and preserve our rights to protection, in which they have sworn to do as the Oakland Police Department prescribes. Also, the Oakland Housing Authority should continue its obligations.
The enlistment of the Alameda County Sheriff's Office may prove to be a worthier or more suitable source of protection, in that the Oakland Police Department depends and is contingent upon the Alameda County's support in processing arrestees into the Superior Court of Alameda County. The Alameda County Sheriff's Office now books for the Oakland Police Department that once owned and operated its own jail. Alameda County Sheriff's Office is now in contract with the City of Oakland to book and house Oakland Police Department's arrested individuals. Oakland perceived it would be less of an expense to do so. They closed the Oakland City Jail. The correctional officers were dispatched to non police duties. I believe they could have been utilized more proficiently; assisting in police duties, other than arrest. They are qualified in writing reports and familiar with the daily functions of the organization.
I conclude, the taxpayers of Oakand, California may continue saving hard earned dollars by applying money, taken from them in the form of taxes, to other pertinent means. We won't have to pay exorbitant or excessive incomes to the sheriff officers as is done for Oakland Police Officers.

Wow, you are amazing! If I didn't know any better I would think that you are trying to take over Tucker's position when he steps down after vesting in his CalPers retirement in a year and a half. Have you ever received any alleged police services from the Alameda Count Sheriff's Dept (ALCO) in Oakland? They are, for the most part, security guards with police powers. Tucker has done his best to strip OPD of all that they were in Oakland by taking away the jail, airport, coliseum, etc. In so doing he has created twice the work for OPD by installing this less than helpful crew of would-be police officers into the mix with OPD. Since OPD lost their jail to ALCO's less than preferable alternative (after Tucker, who is former ALCO, took office), officers spend 3 to 4 times the amount of time they used to booking someone into ALCO's jail. That would be time those officers could spend on the street dealing with crime, but can not, because they are wasting time in ALCO's jail trying to get somebody booked. If somebody gets robbed on an AC Transit bus who is called? OPD! If a sheriff sees a drunk driver in Oakland who is called? OPD! Any major crime that occurs in Oakland is dealt with by OPD, even in those venues where ALCO has taken over. Please stop posting lies about how ALCO can improve Oakland, when all they have done thus far is waste OPD's time. You ought to be ashamed of yourself for engaging in such obvious deception. My tax dollars are firmly behind OPD!
